The 8th Annual General Meeting of CSR Cyprus (Cyprus Network for Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility) was held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Larnaca.
On behalf of H.E. the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Dr. Maria Panayiotou, Mr. Theodoulos Makrygiannis, Director of the Minister’s Office, addressed the event. Mr Michalis Antoniou, Director-General of Cyprus' Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB), also addressed.
Mr. Makrygiannis stressed out the challenges faced by businesses, i.e. green transition, circular economy, energy use and efficiency, and the respective national action plans implemented by the Cypriot government, pointing out how important it is for businesses to be involved in protecting the environment. Mr. Antoniou congratulated CSR Cyprus, noting that the Association, being part of OEB, accelerates the efforts towards advancing sustainability and highlighted the value of cooperation among all stakeholders to achieve collective goals, ensuring that "no one is left behind."
The statutory part of the General Meeting began with the confirmation of a quorum by the Secretary of the BoD, Mrs. Maria Mavridou. Chairman of the BoD, Dr. Marinos Voukis, reviewed the Network's activities from July 2023 to June 2024, analyzing the three main goals set by BoD during its two-year term: (1) Boost value of CSR Cyprus Members; (2) Establish partnerships and collaborations with higher educational institutions and public entities; (3) Expand and enhance the Network's outreach and brand. Alongside the training programmes and the enhanced institutional role played by the Network throughout the past year, Dr. Voukis presented in brief some promotional activities carried out, namely through the Network's upgraded digital presence and the creation of personalized videos for each Member-organization. As he concluded, CSR Cyprus aims both to carry on working in a responsible and sustainable manner and also to function as one of the most important bodies for sustainability in Cyprus.
Following the Chair’s presentation, Mr. Kyriakos Siakallis, Treasurer, presented the Financial Statements of 2023, the results of which showed a healthy financial position for the Network. Mrs. Andri Chatzikkou, on behalf of EY Cyprus, confirmed the true and fair view of the Association’s financial position. Βoth the FS and the reappointment of EY Cyprus as the Association’s auditors were unanimously approved.
The event was concluded with a presentation by Mr. Marinos Aniftos, Project Coordinator of "Corporate Sustainability Supporting Framework", on behalf of the Authority of Cooperative Societies.
