The Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Welfare, Ms. Antonia Theodosiou, addressed the event, emphasizing the collaboration between her office and the Network, as both parties share the same goals of implementing sustainability across all sectors, one of the most crucial being the business sector. Ms. Theodosiou noted that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a unique opportunity for Cyprus, to transition to a new development model that ensures inclusive social prosperity and environmental protection.

Following this, the Chairman of the BoD, Dr. Marinos Voukkis, delivered a brief review of CSR Cyprus’s activities for 2024. He stated that the Network continues a dynamic path,  by enhancing services offered to its Members and by actively collaborating with public bodies. In this context, the launch of the 4th Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Best Practices Awards was announced, set to take place in the first half of 2025, and various educational programs open to Members and the general public.

The event’s guest of honour, Mr. Dimitris Fatouros, Communications Officer for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations Regional Information Centre (UNRIC) in Brussels, gave a presentation titled "The 17 Goals as a Promise We Ought to Keep." Among other points, Mr. Fatouros spoke about "the infinite human effort to improve well-being" and described the SDGs as a codified initiative by nations to commit to a better world. He also discussed their relevance to businesses and emerging markets.

The event concluded with a gift raffle, generously sponsored by CSR Cyprus Members.
