The 4th Best Practices in Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility Awards 2025 were presented on Thursday, 26 September 2025, in a celebratory ceremony held during the 17th Corporate Sustainability & Responsibility Conference.
Established in 2021 by CSR Cyprus in collaboration with the Authority for Cooperative Societies, the Awards recognise businesses that implement initiatives with tangible social, environmental, and economic impact. This year’s record number of entries highlights the growing maturity and commitment of the Cypriot business community to sustainability. The winners were selected by a nine-member evaluation committee comprised of state officials, sustainability experts, and academics.
In the Big Enterprises Category, the Award was presented to Charalambides Christis Ltd for the programme “Joining Our Voices for the Children of Cyprus.” The prize was handed over by Ms. Antonia Theodosiou, Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Welfare, and received by Ms. Sotiroula Sotiriou, Corporate and Image Manager. A Commendation was awarded to Columbia Group for the “Female Cadet Mentorship Programme,” presented by Mr. Panayiotis Palates, Commissioner for the Citizen, and received by Mr. Alejandro Justiniani, Senior Training Manager.
In the Medium Enterprises Category, the Award went to UMAR Shipping Services for the initiative “UW Galaxy.” The prize was presented by Mr. Andreas Christodoulou, Senior Officer at the Authority for Cooperative Societies, and received by Mr. Vangelis Tsanggaridis, COO of UW Group. A Commendation was presented to UCLan Cyprus for the initiative “I Cycle for My Homeland,” by Mr. Marios Theophilou, Meteorological Officer A at the Directorate General Growth, Ministry of Finance, and received by Ms. Margarita Stefanou, Head of Business Development of UCLan.
In the Small Enterprises Category, the Award was presented to Paidikorama Kindergarten for the art exhibition “Drawing with Love.” The award was handed over by Ms. Athina Panayiotou, Director General of the Cyprus Organization for Standardization, and received by Ms. Tasoula Vasiliou Zorpa, the kindergarten’s Director. A Commendation was also awarded to RESET for its “Youth-Led Enviro-Hackathon” empowering young people with disabilities. The award was presented by Ms. Lena Panayiotou, Deputy Director General of OEB, and received by Mr. Loizos Pitsillides, Co-Founder & CFO.
The ceremony highlighted that business initiatives embedded in a comprehensive sustainability strategy can deliver meaningful impact for both society and the environment. Congratulations were extended to all participating companies for their innovative practices, which serve as inspiring examples of responsible business.
The award sculptures, inspired by the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, were created by acclaimed Cypriot artist Nikolas Ladommatos.
The Awards will be held again in two years, promising to celebrate the pivotal role of the business community in advancing the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
